In keeping with providing information useful to both my blog readers' & City of Williams Lake residents, the Waterwise Program from the Cariboo-Chilcotin Conservation Society provides the following tips to conserve the City's water supply:
* Use a broom to clean up your driveway and walkway
* Use a hand nozzle when watering your grass and plants
* Choose biodegradable cleaning products
* Choose plants & landscapes that uses little or no water
* Use a timer to control the amount of time that your lawns are watered (30 mins twice a week is recommended and do so early in the morning or late at night)
* Use Child & Pet-friendly lawn and plant fertilizers, such as Alfalfa Pelles (rabbit food)
And if I may, I would encourage Williams Lake City Council to end the hypocrisy of water usage by employing techniques that would bring the City into line with the same requirements of residents including:
* usage of moisture sensors (these sensors would detect when it is raining and thereby not requiring the watering of the City's parks)
* re-alignment of the City's water sprinkers so that little or no water is hitting the streets
* not to water at the same times that residents' are prohibited from watering their properties
