Dear Recall Proponents...

As everyone knows, Gordon Campbell is now on his way out as BC Liberal Party Leader and my chief concern has now been addressed by Gordon Campbell signalling his intention to retire - Campbell becoming the "lightening rod" for recall campaigns

There is no sense in proceeding with recall campaigns, at this point, that are likely to take place in Cariboo-Chilcotin and Kamloops-North Thompson primarly over the HST.  We all should allow Gordon Campbell to be celebrated as an individual who's committed to public service for 25 years as Mayor of Vancouver, Chair of the Greater Vancouver Regional District (now Metro Vancouver), Leader of the Official Opposition and now Premier of British Columbia and the debate, in due course, will shift to who will be the next Leader of the BC Liberal Party and Premier of British Columbia.  HST Opponents may find that the next Premier of British Columbia may satisfy their concerns over the HST.  Besides - there won't be much momentum lost if they waited from January of 2011 to May of 2011 when the next Premier of BC is likely to be in place and wait & see what the BC Liberal Party Leadership contenders' have to say on their personal position on the Harmonized Sales Tax

Otherwise, the public may become cynical of their (HST Opponent) Agenda, rather than waiting to see what the BC Liberal Party contenders' come out with platforms relative to the HST and other matters in British Columbia.

Let's press the "pause" button on recall campaigns so we can see who the new Leader of the BC Liberal Party & next Premier of British Columbia will be and see what he or she intends to do regarding the HST before considerable energy is expended to recall a local BC Liberal MLA

  1. nice try Steve, however the Liberal agenda of telling "no-truths" and failing to represent their constituents is enough reason alone to go ahead with the recall. 1200.00 i cant afford as WL is going to become very economically unstable due to Prosperity and the shutting down of the mills (and they are shutting down very soon due to changes in allowable harvesting).

  2. Thanks for your comment...

But I'd point that a new Premier will be in place by the time the House resumes sitting in February and people's concerns over the HST may be addressed over the course of a Leadership Debate for the BC Liberal Party. Then again - it may not, so it would be wise to wait and see what a new Premier has to say on the HST. Besides - 60 days (from Jan 1, 2011) will not hurt FightHST's chances to recall Donna Barnett and other BC Liberal MLA's.

  3. you and i BOTH know steve that "out of sight out of mind" and the minute you just let things go, they are gone. Now is the time to remove the Liebrals from power and not wait for more double speak and car salesman speaches about how taking my hard earned money is going to fire up the economy...time to go. They have already backdoor dealed viable owned public entities without admitting that they were planning on doing it, put in a tax while saying they werent, the list goes on.

Now, in saying that, i am really hoping that the Conservative Party's resurgence develops into a leader for the party as, when asked to choose, it would be Liberal over NDP in my books if i had to pick the lesser of two evils.
