City of WL Strike Update #3

Courtesy of HQCariboo.com:

Contract talks between the City of Williams Lake and it's unionized employees have been delayed.

They were set to begin another round tomorrow (Feb 6) but that plan is now on hold.

John Dube, the Service Agent for the International Union of Operating Engineers local 882, says the city has retained a negotiator to join their team and they won't get back to the bargaining table until Tuesday. (Feb 12)

Meanwhile, talks about what services would be essential during a strike continue.

Once that is in place Dube says the union would be in a legal position to issue 72-hour strike notice although he says that doesn't mean that they would actually go out on strike.

He says it would be a last resort and that they would prefer a negotiated settlement.
