Oliver St Project - Half Finished Works...

The pictures, all above, were taken at Oliver Street and 3rd Avenue and in front of Maureen Sanders School of Dance

It is truly shameful that this is the very best the City can do for a beautification program when it did public works along Oliver Street earlier this year.  I feel strongly that these sorts of projects should be done when impacts to both tourists/business are at the least - namely Sept - Nov and March - June

It seems whatever consultation that was done by the City, either by Staff or elected officials, fell on "deaf ears" as business people I talked to today on the street told me that during the Oliver St upgrade works, they were definitely impacted in a negative way.  Sure reminds you of what business went through in Vancouver as public works were done, business raised concerns about the potential impacts on them and how local government/Translink turned a blind eye to their plight

The next Williams Lake City Council should consider these points, and consult with businesses in a proactive and compassionate way, prior to any public works in the downtown area in 2012 and beyond
