"The West Fraser sawmill in Williams Lake will shut down for two weeks beginning March 16, the company has announced.
There are about 170 employees at the mill.
Williams Lake’s mill is one of seven in the province the company is shutting down as part of a curtailment.
The shutdowns at the seven mills will range from between one and two weeks. The total production curtailed is expected to be approximately 44 million board feet.
A total of 1,160 employees will be affected.
“These curtailments reflect the continuing weakening of demand as the severe downturn of the U.S. housing market continues,” a company news release says."
