City of WL says Walt Cobb's comments on Prosperity Mine "inappropriate"

Earlier today, the City of Williams Lake issued a statement calling former MLA Walt Cobb's comments' on Prosperity Mine inappropriate when Mr. Cobb said this:

"There will be a direct backlash, possibly violent, against the Tsil’quotin Nation if its members succeed in blocking development of the proposed Taseko Prosperity gold and copper mine and";

“Some of these people, and some of their leaders, don’t want to work and they don’t want their people to work or to prosper on the reserve.”

See the City of Williams Lake's press release here
See the BC NDP's press release on the same subject here

Why the BC NDP would put out a press release on this subject is fairly obvious, but why the City of Williams Lake wants to get in on it is perplexing to me

Mayor Cook is trying to have it both ways on Prosperity Mine.  She should clearly say that she is in favour of Prosperity Mine or she is backing the First Nations on Prosperity Mine, but you can't have it both ways because when you are in a position of leadership, you should stand up for what you believe in, no matter what the political cost
