CRD Area 'F' By-Election process begins

As approved at the CRD Board meeting last week, the Board commenced the legal process to hold a by-election to replace Duncan Barnett as the Electoral Area 'F' Director.  Ads calling for individuals to submit candidacy papers have already run in the Advisor and will likely be in today's Williams Lake Tribune and will run again next week as well.  The same information will be available on the CRD's website at http://www.cariboord.bc.ca

After I broke the information on Friday, October 22nd - I was contacted by several invididuals in Miocene and the 150 Mile House area asking that I submit my name as a candidate in the Area 'F' by-election, given I was a candidate in the 2008 Civic Election.

After considering their views and talking with others, both in Area 'F' and Williams Lake.  I have decided not to be a candidate in the upcoming CRD Area 'F' By-election and I've notified Joan Sorley of my decision.  I have no doubt that Joan Sorley will be under pressure to step up and run to become the Area 'F' Director, given that she is presently the Alternate Director for Area 'F', appointed by then Area 'F' Director Duncan Barnett in early 2010.  There may be others who will seek the Area 'F' Director's seat before the by-election which must be held on Saturday, January 15th, 2011

As for my future plans for the City of Williams Lake's civic election in the Fall of 2011 - I'm not prepared to address those rumours which I'm sure are floating out there today.  Whatever my political plans are, the community will know those sometime in the summer of 2011.  In the meantime, I intend to watch what Williams Lake Council is up to and let you know accordingly and provide my opinion on their shortcomings between now and the fall of 2011

Great. I can't wait to hear your take and frank reporting on the actual details behind the CRD's vilification of Barnett.
I hope that the backroom politics and the character assassination that occurred is made as public as his "alleged" activities.
