Scott Nelson: Mayor Cook - Fix South Lakeside Drive NOW!

From the Rush:

A Williams Lake mayoral candidate would like to see some major improvements to a busy road in the lake city. Scott Nelson says South Lakeside Drive needs to be prioritized and repaved right now. He says the repairs should be done in 2011 and says Mayor Kerry Cook needs to pull her staff together, hold a council meeting, find the funds and have the problem corrected. Nelson says the repaving would cover around a two km stretch of road from the Wal-Mart intersection to the bottom of the hill up to the school (Kwaleen Elementary). He says if the current council doesn't repave the road he'll make it a top priority and have it paved next year should he be elected mayor in November.

See a quick 2 minute video on Scott Nelson addressing this same topic here

If you agree with Scott Nelson, you can contact Mayor Cook to fix the stretch of South Lakeside Drive from Kwaleen Elementary to Pioneer Drive (entrance to Wal-Mart) as follows:

Email - kcook@williamslake.ca or mayor@williamslake.ca
Phone - (250) - 398-7213
Cell - (250) - 267-1102

Editor's Note - the City of Williams Lake does plan in 2012, at this point, (engineering work to commence this year) to pave South Lakeside Drive from bottom of Hodgson Rd to Pioneer Drive (entrance to Wal-Mart)

Hey Mister Budget Restraint! Where is the money going to come from?

Good point. What a hypocrite.

Thanks for your comments...

I merely providing the information to the public to do what Scott Nelson is asking...

Further - I'd like to clarify that my "budget restraint" comment about South Lakeside Drive was the next Cit Council "could" not "will" show Budget restraint. That, of course, would entirely depend on who is the next Mayor and 6 City Councillors and what kind of direction the public gives, during the election, to the 2011-2014 WL Council

I hope that this clears up that confusion...

You encouraged people to call her to ask the road be done now. That implies you support paving it now. You should be more clear.

Thank you and it's a good point. I have not yet seen a cost estimate for the re-paving of the section of South Lakeside Drive, to which Mr. Nelson refers, and speaking personally, the public needs to see how much it'll cost, especially residents along that stretch might argue that while the City is at it - why don't they also put in sidewalks at the same time...

Sidewalks is a really really good point. Might as well be efficient.
