BC Ambulance Service – Quesnel Ambulance Station Call Out Rates

Tanya Rich, British Columbia Emergency Health Services (“BCEHS”) District Manager, Patient Care Delivery - North Central Region BC Ambulance Service, and Jason Jackson - Provincial Vice President, Ambulance Paramedics of BC, Emergency Dispatchers of BC, CUPE, reviewed existing and future staffing levels challenges, operational challenges and past call out rates for the local Quesnel Ambulance Station.  BCEHS is undergoing a major transition for its ambulance paramedics staffing mode.  By March 31, 2022, all paramedics shifts will be full-time, regular part-time, and scheduled on-call and/or call out.  This could pose challenges for staffing levels and ambulances services.

Development Variance Permit – 2060 Hendry Road

Council approved to vary the requirement for a carriage house to be serviced by community water and sewer.  The property located at 2060 Hendry Road is serviced by a community water system but is an on-site lagoon.  The Northern Health Authority has confirmed the lagoon has the capacity to service the proposed carriage house.   The applicant is intending to convert the second floor of an existing barn to a residential unit/carriage house.

Remedial Action Order – 1207 Crane Avenue

Council approved remedial action order on 1207 Crane Avenue, which will require demolition of the principal building.  This action was recommended to eliminate the unsafe condition of the structure and the nuisance-issues associated with this property.  The property owners have until July 22, 2020 to demolish the building.  If this does not happen the City will demolish the building and add the costs of the demolition to the property taxes.

Corporation’s 2019 Annual Report

Council approved the City of Quesnel 2019 Annual Report that contains 2019 City statistics, major initiatives/projects undertaken by the City in 2019, and the 2019 Strategic Plan and Measures.  This report is available to view on the City’s website, or in the lobby at City Hall.

Bridges Supportive Housing Development – 355 Elliott Street

BC Housing’s new independent supportive housing facility (“Bridges”), located at 355 Elliott Street, is scheduled to open in late August/early September.  As per the Good Neighbour Agreement, BC Housing is to ensure that the Operator (Quesnel Shelter Support Society) adheres to a process that is open to the public to proactively and reactively address neighbourhood and community concerns around this facility.  The Operator is inviting the public to attend the upcoming public Good Neighbour meeting, that will be held by teleconference due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on July 22, 2020 from 1 – 3 pm.  Please visit https://www.qsss.ca/events to register for this teleconference.
