City of Williams Lake Launches ‘Made in Canada’ Sticker Initiative to Support Local Businesses

The City of Williams Lake is excited to introduce its new 'MADE IN CANADA' sticker initiative, designed to support local businesses and help residents make informed shopping decisions.

These stickers will help businesses clearly mark products made in Canada, making it easier for consumers to identify and choose local options.

“We have many businesses in Williams Lake that have corporate ties to the U.S. or sell U.S.-made products,” said Beth Veenkamp, City of Williams Lake Manager of Economic Development. “While we would never suggest that residents stop shopping at these businesses — they provide local jobs, support our economy, and are deeply connected to our community — we want to make it easier for businesses to highlight Canadian-made products so residents can make informed purchasing decisions.”

The stickers will be available at no cost to businesses and can be picked up at City Hall, the Williams Lake and District Chamber of Commerce located in the Tourism Discovery Centre, or the Downtown Williams Lake Business Improvement Area office.

“We understand that local businesses are facing a challenging and uncertain environment,” said Williams Lake Mayor Surinderpal Rathor. “This initiative is a small but meaningful step to show our support for businesses and reassure our community that Council is committed to moving forward with a Team Canada mindset.”

At its Regular Council Meeting on Tuesday, February 5, 2025, Council encouraged residents and business owners to support the local economy by shopping local and Canadian whenever options are available.
