Fed Review Panel approves late 'Int. Party Status' apps

In their latest and appears final decision prior to the forthcoming public hearing on 'New Prosperity' - the Federal Review Panel has approved a batch of 20 late applications for 'Interested Party Status' which includes the Mayors of Quesnel, Williams Lake and 100 Mile House, reports the Williams Lake Tribune quoting a March 8th letter from the Federal Review Panel Chair Bill Ross

Chair Ross also reports that the requests for a community meeting in Quesnel and 100 Mile House as well.  In addition, he also states that, considering that a decision for a public hearing on the 'New Prosperity' EIS or Environmental Impact Statement is forthcoming, no further late request for 'Interested Party Status' will be considered, however there is still the opportunity for members of the public to make oral submissions to the Panel on 'New Prosperity' when the public hearings occur, expected in the next couple of months

While I was disappointed that the Panel accepted the late requests for 'Interested Party Status', I'm glad to see that they have closed the doors on further requests for Interested Party Status.

Finally - with Williams Lake Mayor Kerry Cook being granted 'Interested Party Status' - I wonder what the reaction from the TNG (Chilcotin National Government) to this move will be.... probably not very receptive to this move.  I expect the TNG will express frustration and deep disappointment on the move by Williams Lake's Mayor receiving 'Interested Party Status'
