Now that the NCLGA (North Central Local Gov' Association) Annual AGM is over - local governments are back to work this upcoming week as follows:
Wells - Regular Council Meeting on Tuesday, May 7th at 7pm in Wells Council Chambers (4243 Sanders Ave)
Quesnel - Regular Council Meeting on Monday, May 6th at 7pm in Quesnel Council Chambers (2nd Flr - 410 Kinchant St. View the full Agenda here
Major Items on the Agenda include:
a) Presentation on 2012 Audited Financial Statements
b) 2013 City of Quesnel Tax Rate Bylaw
c) 3rd Party signage in Parks
Williams Lake - Regular Council Meeting on Tuesday, May 6th at 6pm in WL Council Chambers (450 Mart St). View the full Agenda here
Major Items on the Agenda include:
a) 2 Delegations - Social Planning Council, update on current activities & "Welcoming Communities BC" project
b) 2012-16 Collective Agreement - as I expected, unionized City members' will get wage hikes of 1.75% in the first two years (2012/2013) and then 2% in the final two years (2014/2015)
c) Place Brand Public Engagement - it seems Council/Staff has not got the hint that the public delivered to them on April 9th. Simply running a website for input and 1 informational meeting is more likely to be received as a 'slap in the face' to those who oppose how/why the public was outraged around the branding exercise. Reminds me of "HST - Part 2" with the BC Liberals -- we know you don't want the HST but you've got it all wrong and we're going to prove it....
d) Recommend approval for changes to Signal Point's Primary Liquor License
e) 1st reading of bylaws to permit the keeping of hens and bees on one's property
f) Approval of South Lakeside Rd upgrade project to Peterson Contracting for $1.8 million
g) 3 readings of 2013 Tax Rate Bylaw and adopt the 2013-17 Financial Plan Bylaw
Cariboo Regional District - Regular Board Meetings on Friday, May 10th starting at 9:30am in the Cariboo RD Boardroom as follows:
CCRHD - Agenda here
CRD - Agenda here
Major items on Cariboo RD Board Agenda:
a) Zoning Bylaw Amendments on Bees, Hens and Secondary Suites in rural areas
b) Conditional approval on Cariboo RD's Solid Waste Management Plan with formation of Plan Monitoring Advisory Committee - I wonder if the formation of this Advisory Committee means the withdrawal of the City of WL's Steering Committee for this Plan in the Central Cariboo??
c) New Freedom of Information Bylaw - one thing I'll be asking Director Bischoff about is the appeal mechanism if a FOI Request is denied at the Staff level who is identified in the bylaw as the "Head" as defined by the provincial FOI Act
