The Quesnel Technics Gymnastics Club is one of 46 organizations across B.C. to receive a grant in the latest round of BC Sport Participation Program funding.
Funding from the BC Sport Participation Program helps community-based organizations organize activities so local residents can enjoy the benefits of sport and physical activity.
The Club will use their $1,000 grant to support its Positive Performance Acro Troupe program that starts on April 13 and runs until July.
“Encouraging children to take up a sport or an athletic pursuit pays dividends down the road. Children who become physically active at a young age are highly likely to keep being fit into adulthood,” says Cariboo-North MLA Coralee Oakes. “For more than three decades the Quesnel Technics Gymnastics Club and its staff and volunteers have been promoting and teaching gymnastics’ positive benefits to generations of youngsters. I thank them for their dedication to our community and congratulate them on receiving this grant.”
$70,000 is being providing to local organizations in this round of funding. Since 2004, the BC Sport Participation Program has provided more than $10 million through grants that include Local Sport Program Development (LSPD), Girls Only, and Forever Active Bodies (FAB) 55+.
The grant for the Quesnel Technics Gymnastics Club falls under the Girls Only category.
