Interlakes receives Prov Funding

The Interlakes Community Association in Lone Butte has received $9,400 through the latest round of provincial gaming grants to host two community events.

“We are so grateful to be receiving this funding and support for great programs like these, which allow us to come together as a community,” said Wendy Chase, President of Interlakes Community Association. “The funding will help to support the volunteers who commit many hours of work to making both of these events possible.”

The funding received will support the Interlakes Community Halloween Program and the Interlakes Rodeo Grounds Program. The Community Halloween program is a free community event and the funding will support decorations, fireworks, and food. The Rodeo Grounds Program will be hosting 1,200 people and fund the livestock provider, announcer and first aid.

“The Interlakes region is extremely fortunate to be so rich in culture and have such talented local artists and athletes,” said Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett. “This funding will help enable these talented individuals to continue to build on their skills and showcase their various productions for the benefit of all residents and visitors alike.”

The Community Gaming Grants for this organization was made possible through the Sports and Arts and Culture intake. Grants through this intake go towards programs that contribute to the quality of life in a community, including assisting the disadvantaged or distressed, promoting health, or enhancing opportunities for youth.

Every year, the provincial government approves $135 million in gaming grants that benefit over 5,000 local organizations that serve communities throughout British Columbia.
