WL Council Highlights - Jan 10th mtg

Present: Mayor SPS Rathor; Councillors Boehm, Lyons, Moses and Nelson (via Zoom)

Mayor Rathor recognized that the meeting was taking place on the traditional, unceded territory of the Williams Lake First Nation within Secwepemculecw

Meeting Agenda with 2 Late Items adopted
Minutes of the December 20th, 2022 City Council meeting were received and adopted

Delegation: 

Ms. Laurie Walters from Cariboo-Chilcotin Community Futures appeared before Council to discuss the PASS or Planning a Successful Succession Program

Following her presentation - A Question/Answer period ensued 

Mayor Rathor, on behalf of Council, thanked Ms. Walters for her time/information

Resolved -- That the presentation from Laurie Walters regarding the PASS Program be received for information

Business:

1) Council received for information the accounts payable computer cheque and EFT listings dated December 22, 23, 29, 2022 and January 5, 2023

2) Council approved a 2023 application to the Northern Development Initiative Trust Economic Development Capacity Building Program, for up to $50,000, to offset the wages of the Economic Development Manager

3) Council approved a 2023 application to Northern Development Initiative Trust for the Grant Writing Support program, for up to $8,000.00

4) Council approved the purchase of a 2024 T60R36 Larue self propelled snowblower from J.A Larue Inc for the purchase price of $596,520.00 plus applicable taxes and that the $118,276 of this amount that exceeds the established budget for this project be covered from Airport Reserves.

5) At the request of the Girl Guides of Canada BC Council in their letter dated November 25, 2022, Council directed staff to display blue lights on the exterior of City Hall on February 22, 2023 in support of "World Thinking Day" for girl empowerment in BC

6) Late Item #1 -- Council agreed to nominate Williams Lake First Nation Chief Willie Sellars for the 2023 British Columbia Reconciliation Award 

7) Late Item #2 -- Council approved a 2023 application to the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) Community Emergency Preparedness Fund for up to $30,000 to enhance the capacity of the local Emergency Support Services team

8) Council received the Council Information Package as of January 10th, 2023
