BC goes "Blue" (BC Conservatives) in Oct 24, 2026 Provincial Election

In what could only be described as one of the BIGGEST Political Blunders in modern Canadian political history (as well as the 1st BC Conservative Government since 1928) -- BC voters' handed the BC Conservatives' a super-majority of 63 seats in a 93 seat BC Legislature while the opposition BC NDP have 28 seats and the BC Greens have 2 seats ... (subject to both recount and judicial recount)

The 44th General Election of BC started on September 22, 2026 (after rejected calls from BC Local Governments' to NOT hold an general election in the same month as theirs) and the BC Conservatives' never looked back as voters sought to punish the BC NDP for calling a snap (and unnecessary) election ...

As a result -- Lorne Doerksen (who won his own riding of Cariboo-Chilcotin in a landslide of receiving 77% support of all votes cast on October 24, 2026) has been asked by BC's Lt-Governor (Hon. Wendy Cocchia) to form a government, based on the results of the October 24, 2026 BC General Election ....

Also as a result of the October 24, 2026 BC General Election where the NDP were holding 47 seats in a 93 seat BC Legislature and are now down to just 28 seats -- David Eby will resign as Leader of the BC NDP but will continue as the MLA for Vancouver-Point Grey

Next Steps:

* Election BC/Final Count to start on November 6, 2026

* Return of Election Writs to BC's Chief Electoral Officer: November 18, 2026

* Possibility to commence 1st Session of the 44th BC Legislature: December 2026

Meanwhile: Lorne Doerksen will become just the 2nd BC Premier from the Central Interior in nearly 4 decades

I expect that the 2026 BC Provincial General Election and the results from it will be studied by Poli-Sci (Political Science) classes at BC (and other) Universities or Institutions for years (and even decades) to come... to study and reflect on the following:

How could a governing party so badly misread the room on the mood of the voters.... and the ability of the Official Opposition political party (BC Conservatives) to come together and be united in defeating the governing party in their bid for re-election....
