Cariboo RD Emergency Preparedness Committee Highlights - Oct 12th, 2023 mtg

Present: Chair M. Wagner; Directors Sjostrom, Bachmeier (via teleconference), Forseth, Neufeld, Pare (via teleconference) and De Vries

The Chair called the meeting to order at 2:30pm and recognized the meeting was taking place on the traditional, unceded territory of the Williams Lake First Nation within Secwepemculecw

Minutes of the Committee meeting held April 19th, 2023 were received/adopted

Business:

The Committee discussed the following items:

1) Cariboo RD Emergency Operations Centre Reporting from April to September 2023 
2) Emergency and Disaster Management Act 
3) Emergency Management Regulations Feedback/Next Steps

4) DRAFT 2024 Emergency Program Services Business Plan 

The Committee adjourned at 4:25pm

Cariboo RD Emergency Preparedness Committee Highlights - April 19th mtg

Present: Chair M. Wagner; Directors Sjostrom, Bachmeier, Forseth, Neufeld, LeBourdais, Pare and De Vries

Guest: Williams Lake City Councillor Joan Flaspohler

The Chair called the meeting to order at 10:00am and recognized the meeting was taking place on the traditional, unceded territory of the Williams Lake First Nation within Secwepemculecw and welcomed Williams Lake City Councillor Joan Flaspohler to the Committee meeting today

Minutes of the Committee meeting held January 25th, 2023 were received/adopted

Business:

1) EOC Reporting - 1st Quarter 2023

A report from the Mgr. of Emergency Program Services was presented to the Committee
Discussion ensued thereon .. 

Resolved: That the report be received

2) 2023 UBCM CEPF Evacuation Route Planning Application

A report from the Mgr. of Emergency Program Services was presented to the Committee
Discussion ensued thereon .. 

Resolved: That the Cariboo Regional District Board submit an application for the 2023 UBCM CEPF Evacuation Route Planning for 108 Mile Ranch and area in Electoral Area "G"

3) Emergency Program Act Modernization Update

A report from the Mgr. of Emergency Program Services was presented to the Committee
Discussion ensued thereon .. 

Resolved: That the report be received

There being no further business - the Committee adjourned at 11:32am

Cariboo RD Emergency Preparedness Committee Highlights - Jan 25th mtg

Present: Chair M. Wagner; Directors Sjostrom (via telephone), Bachmeier, Forseth, Neufeld, LeBourdais (via MS Teams), Pare and De Vries (via MS Teams)

The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:00pm and recognized the meeting was taking place on the traditional, unceded territory of the Williams Lake First Nation within Secwepemculecw, acknowledged today's announcement from WLFN regarding geophysical results from the second phase of the investigation at the St. Joseph's Mission Residential School and encouraged Directors' to attend the "Sacred Fire" event outside the Elizabeth Grouse Gym at Sugarcane between today to Saturday

The Committee held before it a report of the Mgr. of Emergency Programs
Discussion ensued thereon

4) Modernization of the Emergency Program Act

The Committee held before it a report of the Mgr. of Emergency Programs
Discussion ensued thereon

5)  BC Flood Strategy - Response from Peace River Regional District

The Committee held before it a report of the Mgr. of Emergency Programs
Discussion ensued thereon

Resolved -- Report received and that a letter of concern, similar to one from the Peace River Regional District, be forwarded to the Province in respect of BC's Flood Strategy and its' potential impacts' upon the Cariboo Regional District 

The Committee adjourned at 2:42pm

Later today -- both the Cariboo Regional District's Emergency Preparedness & Connectivity Committee will both meet in the Cariboo Regional District's Williams Lake Boardroom (180D North 3rd Avenue, Williams Lake), as follows:

Emergency Preparedness Committee - 10am: On the Agenda:

* Emergency Program Key Findings Report Prioritization and Workplan Update
* UBCM 2023 Community Resiliency Initiative  - FireSmart Community Funding and Supports – Fall Application Intake

* Canadian Red Cross Risk Awareness Project
* Cariboo Regional District's Emergency Response Protocol and Xeni Gwet'in Title Land Communications Procedure
