There will be a candlelight vigil at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 12th in front of City Hall to honour the victims of the Aug. 5 fatal shooting of six people at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin.
“The entire community is invited to remember those who have lost their lives,” says Councillor Surinderpal Rathor. “They did not deserve this, nor do their friends and family deserve the horrible grief they are now experiencing. We need to send the message that these attacks – or any racial abuse or violence – is just not acceptable.”
Mayor Kerry Cook will say a few words at the vigil.

Just wondering when the "City Sponsored" vigil will be for the Colorada theatre shooting victims?? Seems like a bit of a double standard here does it not???

I have discussed this with Councillor Rathor and assures me that the candle light vigil is not "City of Williams Lake" sponsored but he has secured use of City Hall for this event on Sunday in addition to working with others in the community for this event. The City of Williams Lake is not putting any resources (human/financial) into this event

So the press release was done by Rathor himself then? Sent out by Rathor himself? He put it up on the City website himself? He cleaned up after the event himself?
I have no issue with the vigil itself but it seems "funny" that City resources were used for this and not other similar tragedies.
