Santa Claus comes to Quesnel

Yesterday, Pat Bell (Minister of Jobs) came to Quesnel and showered it with provincial dollars as follows

a) $105,000 - Billy Barker Days, Alex Fraser Park, Quesnel Museum
b) $15,000 - Quesnel Lions Club and Quesnel Women's Resource Centre

In justifying the above - Victoria says:

“As one of the central interior’s oldest cities, Quesnel has much to offer. I’m very pleased that my government is able to support these important projects here in Quesnel. B.C.’s agricultural tradition deserves to be respected and preserved. Quesnel is using the funding to help preserve the community’s unique history and to build a bright future.”

AND

“These grants will help local community groups address housing needs at the grassroots level. We welcome the opportunity to support the Quesnel Lions Club plan to create seniors housing. The funding to the Quesnel Women’s Resource Centre will enhance the services they can provide to women at risk of abuse AND The government of B.C. is committed to supporting community efforts to help victims of domestic abuse and this grant will play a key role in doing that in Quesnel. In addition, the grant to the Quesnel Lions Club is going to a great organization that has had the foresight to purchase property that is now a potential home for housing for seniors.”

Can anyone say: Provincial Election....? I'm certain the BC Liberals would love dearly to send Bob Simpson packing in May and send one of their own to Victoria (Coralee Oakes) in May's election

If we want the multicenter it would be foolish not to vote NDP.

I think you are right on the money! The NDP will spend spend spend on lavish luxuries but say no to mines that would actually help pay for these multicenters. Before you vote as yourself where does money actually come from.
