In the last day of the UBCM's Electoral Area Directors' Forum, the following topics were covered in the morning (8:30am - 12:15pm):
* Over an hour discussion on respecting the Office of Electoral Area Director and whether a name change is warranted.... very healthy and passionate debate from all sides...
* Water Suitability - previous history, current status and the path forward
* Rural/Remote Health
Then in the afternoon - the LGLA (Local Government Leadership Academy) began its' annual Forum with the Theme Respectful Leadership, after a welcome from LGLA President (and Columbia Shuswap RD Chair) Rhona Martin, Richmond BC Mayor Malcolm Brodie and a representative from the Musqueam Indian Band who played a welcoming song for the 164 local government delegates in attendance from across BC. Dr. Bev Busson, former RCMP Commissioner, gave an uplifting speech in 3 Dimensional Leadership, Introduction of the Forum Rapporteur, Mr. Ken Cameron (Adjunct Professor/Local Gov't Commentator) and a Community Engagement Workshop was put on by the SFU Centre for Dialogue and finally a 10 minute speech from the provincial NDP Critic for Local Government - Selina Robinson, MLA for Coquitlam-Maillardville. Following that, a reception was held for LGLA Delegates to socialize and connect
Tomorrow - LGLA Delegates will start the Forum in earnest with clinics like:

1) Respect for Yourself – The Juggling Act: Balancing Work & Personal Life, Joyanne Landers
2) Respect for Others – Reconciliation for Local Governments & First Nations, Chief Dr. Robert Joseph, OBC (I will be attending this forum)
3) Respect for the Office – Elected/Elected/Staff Relations, Allison Halkirk, Linda Adams, Gord Horth, Christina Benty (I will be attending this forum)
Afternoon Session (1pm - 4:30pm
1) Respect for Yourself – Self Leadership: Using Olympic Principles to Guide Your Personal Success, Dr. Jennifer Walinga
2) Respect for Others – Effectively Managing Meetings and Encounters with the Public, Christina Benty, Frank Leonard, Jordan Bateman, Councillor

3) Respect for the Office – Conflict Engagement & Communications Skills & Tools Workshop, Michael Shoop & Gerrie Waugh (I will be attending this forum)
In the evening - there is a Session on Respectful Leadership: Your Impact on Others by Dr. Gord Macintosh
