The City of Williams Lake has cancelled the semi-annual Event Hosting Grant application intake for November, following the Provincial Health Officer's continuing directive to restrict public events during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Event Hosting Grants provide stimulus and seed money to help local organizations host, develop, market, and administer new events in Williams Lake.
However, current restrictions on public events throughout the province means there are limited opportunities to host events.
We want to make sure we provide local organizations with the best support we can during this time of COVID-19,” said Ian James, Director of Community Services with the City of Williams Lake. “It wouldn’t be right to ask organizations to put in significant effort to complete the application, and then have to cancel the funding after the fact if the situation does not change across B.C.”
The City will review whether the program can be restarted for the May 2021 semi-annual intake.
