The City of Quesnel and the CUPE 1050 bargaining unit have ratified the terms of a new four-year collective agreement. This agreement covers the inside/outside workers in Public Works and Community Services, City Hall and RCMP Detachment.
“Council appreciates the collaborative efforts of the City’s management team and the Union’s bargaining team which led to this new collective agreement. In this time of uncertainty, obtaining a four-year settlement provides both wage stability to our unionized workers and greater budgeting certainty for our ratepayers,” stated Quesnel Mayor Bob Simpson.
“We are pleased with the settlement that we achieved and we look forward to the next four years,” stated CUPE Local 1050 President Christi McKee-Poitras.
Settlement Details:
The term is four years effective June 8, 2020, and expires on June 7, 2024. The wages increase is 7.5% over four years (1.5%, 2%, 2% and 2%).
The collective agreement for CUPE 1050-01 still remains to be negotiated. This primarily covers the recreation staff.
