The City of Quesnel will host a public input session regarding Budget 2011, an opportunity for residents, business owners and operators, and industrial representatives to provide their ideas and suggestions. The meeting takes place on Monday Jan. 17, starting at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.
“City Council encourages the community to take advantage of this opportunity to share ideas with us,” said Mayor Mary Sjostrom. “Those views can make a difference when Council discusses important issues at budget time.”
“Public input is very important for Council to consider as we move through the budget process,” added Coun. Sushil Thapar, the City’s Finance Committee Chair. “We face challenges, but by consulting with the public we gain a greater understanding of our taxpayers’ wants and needs.”
The meeting will also include a high-level overview of the budget and a report on the recently conducted Citizen Satisfaction Survey.
Several other budget meetings have been scheduled, including:
January 31 at 3 p.m. - Preliminary budget session
February 14 at 3 p.m. - Review five-year capital plan
March 7 at 7 p.m. - Capital budget review
