WL Council Meeting Highlights - January 11th

Delegations:

1) André Chevigny - Mayor Kerry Cook & Councillors presented Andre Chevigny of Pioneer Log Homes an Award of Merit for bringing national recognition to Williams Lake.

2) Staff Sgt Warren Brown - Staff Sergeant Warren Brown of the Williams Lake RCMP provided council with a report on crime for the last quarter of 2010 and for the year 2010

3) Bruce Mack - Bruce Mack, President of Cariboo Chilcotin Partners for Literacy, spoke to Council about the organization and Family Literacy Week, January 24 to 28.

Business:

1) Service Delivery Review and Citizen Survey

Council approved undertaking Service Delivery Review in 2011, and referred the implementation of a citizen survey at an estimated cost of $7,500 to the 2011 budget process. The purpose of the Service Delivery Review is to provide a structure for the City to critically examine the relevance and effectiveness of its various functions and services and to provide a framework for future evaluation and measurement. A Citizen Survey would be used to collect resident feedback on City services.

2) Grant Fund Application for Station House Gallery Relocation

Council directed staff to proceed with a grant application to the Towns for Tomorrow funding program to a maximum of $375, 000 for the relocation of the Station House Gallery, and committed to funding up 25 per cent of the City’s share of costs if the grant is approved, subject to Council’s approval of the 2011 Budget

Kidney Health Month – March 2011
