As most know - Christy Clark surivived 3 rounds of voting to become the 35th Premier of BC and the new BC Liberal Party Leader
See here and here for media coverage. Interesting story on Fight HST people protesting in front of the Vancouver Convention Center where BC Liberals' gathered to hear the selection of the next BC Liberal Party Leader and 35th Premier of BC. See here
Congratulations to all of the candidates and their supporters for a hard fought battle and a job well done. I had friends inside the BC Liberal family who supported other candidates but now it's time to come together to unite against the one thing that would be bad for BC - Same Old NDP and I look forward to this occurring as quickly as possible as 2013 or sooner can sneak up on us very quickly (date of next provincial election). But for Christy Clark tonight, it is a chance to celebrate and thank all of her supporters/campaign workers for their hard work during the campaign
Mike Smyth from the Vancouver Province in his Sunday column which I have a copy of gives his take
on Ms. Clark's win as the 35th Premier of BC and BC Liberal Party Leader - see here

Sorry Steve but Christy Clark DID NOT have huge Liberal support -- she had the expected 1/3rd support of BC Liberals as shown in the first vote count. She did not have the majority support in the second count either, and so now the rest of BC is saddled with the person who was the 3rd choice of BC Liberals.
Christy Clark WILL have an uphill battle to bring together a team from Liberal heavyweights who were not at all flattering in their comments of her during the leadership race.
Small 'c' conservatives will also want to be asking why for someone with no federal Liberal ties she has spent the past 4 years continually harping on and criticizing Stephen Harpers federal Conservative government.
60% of Liberal support in the past decade has come from small ‘c’ conservatives, and many will probably be looking at what to do with their vote now that Christy Clark is the new Liberal leader.
I listened to the news coverage Saturday night from the convention floor beginning at 5pm. What I heard when her name was announced as winner was not the cheers of an excited Liberal Party BUT subdued applause as well as surprised discomfort at what the future is likely to be bringing.
