WILLIAMS LAKE MAYOR KERRY COOK IS OFF TO RICHMOND NEXT WEEK AND TWO COUNCILLORS ARE NOT ON BOARD FOR IT.
SURINDERPAL RATHOR EXPLAINS WHY HE DOESN’T THINK IT’S A GOOD IDEA. HE FEELS IF THE TERM IS LESS THAN A YEAR FROM BEING OVER THE MAYOR SHOULDN'T BE GOING ON LEADERSHIP COURSES AS WELL AS WITH THE TOUGH ECONOMIC TIMES MONEY SHOULDN'T BE WASTED. BOTH RATHOR AND COUNCILLOR TOM BARR WERE OPPOSED
HOWEVER THE REST OF WILLIAMS LAKE CITY COUNCIL (MAYOR COOK AND COUNCILLORS ZACHARIAS, WALTERS AND BOURDON) APPROVED THE MOTION AND MAYOR KERRY COOK WILL BE IN RICHMOND FEBRUARY 16-18

Good for these two Councillors for making the right decision. It seems to me that Mayor Cook is self serving in this case, one last trip on the taxpayers dollar. funny how she says that the raise in per diem is not the right time in light of the economic times yet she has no problem going on a trip that ultimately will bring no benefit to the taxpayers.
Also her comment on Rush that the HST would be a write off in taxes.Where does she get that info...the only way the City can recover HST taxes is if legitimate invoices are submitted. The provincial and federal government would not consider a restuarant receipt as legistimate.Mayor Cook is off mark here.
I do not think the perdiem is the only issue here..what is an issue is the Mayor Cook and Councillor Barr allowed subservient phone calls to sway the initial transparent decision. Smells a little bit like buying votes to me.
Some one in a blog at on Williams Lake Tribune mentioned the word corruption and that this is the worst council we have ever had. Mayor Cook, Councillor zacharias, Hebert, Walter and Bourdon are so not working for the people of WL instead they have formed a highschool clique with some of senior staff at City Hall to the detriment of the taxpayer. Doesn't anyone find it funny that there was enough money to aborb overrun costs on the firehall into the operations budget yet now they are saying the snow removal issue is because we are running out of money. The citizens of WL need to rally and personally I think we need to call in an outside auditor to examine what is actually happening with our tax dollars.
Another issue I have is whay hasn't the budget been posted on the City Webpage, why hasn't there been any explaining on the Firehall project reporting, why hasn't there been anything on the tourism grant issue. WHY IS THE CITY OF WILLIAMS LAKE WEBPAGE ACTING AS A PROPAGANDA RESOURCE TO COVER THEIR WRONG DOING AND FURTHER THE CURRENT COUNCIL'S ABILITY TO GET RE-ELECTED!!!!
