In the Williams Lake Tribune today:
* Staff-Sgt Warren Brown of the WL RCMP calls the recently released BC Civil Liberties Association report on the RCMP "Misleading & Irresponsible" - see here. See the reaction from the BC Union of Indian Chiefs here
* Woodland Drive residents plead with Acting Mayor Geoff Bourdon and Council to provide water/sewer (Note - Mayor Cook is unable to partcipate in these discussions as she lives on Woodland Drive herself). See here
* Council is mulling over the future of the "Sosua Project" - see here
* IUOE (International Union of Operating Engineers) which represents City of WL workers says City Council should up the per diem from $60 to $80 per day. See here. Note - I think that this is a sign of things to come as the IUOE's contract with the City of WL expires in 2012 and it looks like that they want more money. As an aside - their colleagues in Quesnel (CUPE) just settled for 0, 1, and 2% over the next 3 years. Also no one else is getting compensated for HST on meals so why should the IUOE be any different?

* Letter write Mike Ramsey (who works for the Provincial Government) blasts the City over the possbility of regulating people not parking on the street during snow removal operations - see here

Pretty sure the changes to parking fines has nothing to do with what Mr. Ramsey is blabbering about and after reading your blog Steve, didnt the public consultation for parking changes occur well before snowfall and also wasnt it due to unpaid fines? I work in the same building as Ramsey and he is one of the ones that parks on the street all day violating the 1 hour parking along with several other of his entitled provincial government mentality buddies.....so not real smart to throw rocks when you live in a glass house.
People park on the street during a snowfall when they have parking in their driveway...and then bitch about bad snow removal. Cant remove snow with cars on the road so either help out with the situation or dont be suprised when the city is forced to regulate stupidity.
