Upcoming Cariboo Regional District Business...

This week - All local governments (Municipal Councils', School District Boards' (SD #27/28)) will hold their Inaugural Meetings' for the 2011-2014.  These meetings' will be quick in nature as they will have the Swearing-In of the new Elected Officials (Mayors, Councillors and School Trustees) for the upcoming 2011-2014 Term in addition to Committee appointments (Municipal Councils' only) for individual members of the local Municipal Council.

Meanwhile - over at the Cariboo Regional District (after all CRD Directors' have been sworn in), some of the business that the CRD Board will consider includes:

1) Provisional 2012 Hospital District Board Budgets - 2012 CRHD Budget here and the 2012 CCRHD Budget here

2) 2012 Cariboo Regional District Provisional Budget - see here

Budget calls for overall tax requisition increase of 2.4%, region-wide (note - this is lower than the current Canadian inflation rate of 2.8% in October of 2011)

Environment - up 1.4%
Contributions to various services - up 6.5%
Grants-for-Assistance - down 7.1%
Airports - up 1.9%
Rural Admin - up 105.9%
Protective Services - up 3%
Streetlighting - up 5.8%
Recreation - up 1.2%
Water - up 1.6%
Sewer - remains unchanged 2012 vs 2011

Total Budget = $39,640,957
2012 Tax Requistion  = $21,562,333
2011 Tax Requisition = $21,063,038

Difference [Tax Requisition] (2012 vs 2011) of $499,295 or 2.4%


3) CRD Board to formally adopt applications to Victoria's $30 million Community Recreation Fund - see here

4) Letter from CN (Canadian National Railway) thanking the CRD Board for their meeting at the 2011 UBCM (Union of BC Municipalities) Conference along with CN's policy for applying for fencing material to maintain fences near CN's Rail Lines - see here
