Cariboo RD FireSmart Wood Waste Program extended to May 31st, 2021

Courtesy of the Cariboo Regional District:

Editor's Note -- a big thank you to the Canadian Red Cross for the funding to keep this great program running to May 2021

Cariboo Regional District refuse sites with wood waste areas accept wood waste and debris generated from FireSmart activities at no charge to help property owners remove barriers for fire fuel reduction efforts.

FireSmart is a national initiative that outlines simple steps property owners and communities can take to reduce the susceptibility of buildings and property to fire. For other ways to protect your home, download the FireSmart Homeowner's Manual at gov.bc.ca/wildfireprevention.

When disposing FireSmart debris at CRD refuse sites, please remember wood loads must be free of dirt, rocks, metals, plastics or other garbage. Fines apply to contaminated loads. Grass clippings, leaves and tree needles will also be accepted, but must be separated from the wood waste. Before unloading, please let the scale or site attendant know your load of wood waste is from FireSmart activities.

A list of the CRD refuse sites and their operating hours can be accessed here
