Editor's Note - I was profoundly saddened to hear this news and wonder if the discussion around his hiring last year (2011) and the amount of information requests by Quesnel Councillor Sushil Thapar had anything to do with Mr. Stecyk's decision to resign for personal reasons. With hope/luck - all members' of Quesnel Council will respect the hiring process and final decision to hire a new Quesnel City Manager and then move on.... The Rush/The Wolf has more on this here. Quesnel City Council has announced that it has accepted the resignation of City Manager John Stecyk, effective immediately. Stecyk, who is resigning for personal reasons, came to the City in January 2011.
The City of Quesnel wishes Mr. Stecyk well in his future endeavours.
The City will now begin the process of recruiting a new City Manager, which is expected to take several months to complete. The City will provide updates to the community when appropriate.
In the interim, Council has appointed two senior managers to oversee the City's operations and assist Council in the transition period. Those two are Director of Finance Kari Bolton and the Director of Public Works and Engineering, Ken Coombs.
