At last night's Williams Lake Council meeting - Mayor Kerry Cook reported to Council on last Friday's Special Cariboo RD Board meeting where by a 24-8 weighted vote, the Board gave preliminary approval for a new staff position to assist with managing the Esler Sports Complex and Mountain Bike Trails within the Central Cariboo Recreation Function area
Meanwhile - Mayor Cook reported that discussions have occurred between herself, CRD Chair Al Richmond and the CAO's for Williams Lake/Cariboo RD about having a re-visit of this position. In discussing this development this morning with Area D residents, they are pleased that this position "may" be revisited
When this came up at the Special CC Joint Committee meeting on Nov 13th - I was concerned about the fact that there was not a report outlining why the position was necessary and what alternatives were considered prior to the recommended Staff position coming forward so I am now hopeful that a "sober second thought" will be had with this position.
Finally - for the record, contrary to a letter I posted yesterday, I have been informed the position that was approved last Friday by the Cariboo RD Board "in principle" is $80,000 without benefits and it won't be the full $80,000 as the position won't be in place until mid-year 2014, should this position be finally adopted as part of the 2014 Central Cariboo Recreation/Leisure Services Budget in late March 2014
Stay tuned, as they say!

An interesting comment Steve. I haven't spoken to Mayor Cook since the board meeting. Perhaps she was referring to the CAO's meeting to clarify the process which was done this week
Wow, managing mountain bike trails, I think that is already handled. What a waste of money.
