In a process that started in October of 2012 - The Comox Valley Regional District Board has given 3 readings to a bylaw which will, if adopted by the public via Counter-Petition (AAP), contribute funds to a maximum of $100,000 from Comox Valley RD's 3 Electoral Areas for Arts/Culture facilities for operational needs (heat, lights, etc). The idea, similar to the Cariboo Regional District's Central Cariboo Arts/Culture Function, is to provide stability and consistent funding that local arts/culture groups that can budget for over a long period (3+ years), rather than fight for Grant in Aide funding each and every year

Find full details on the Comox Valley RD's Arts/Culture Service proposal here
Should the Comox Valley RD's proposed Arts/Culture Service pass the public test later this month, they would join Regional Districts like the Cariboo Regional District & the Regional District of North Okanagan who now provides direct taxpayer funding to local arts/culture groups
