CC Rural Caucus Highlights - March 8th mtg

Present: Chair S. Forseth; Directors B. Kemp, J. Sorley and B. Anderson

Meeting called to order at 2:30pm

The Chair recognized that the meeting was taking place on traditional Shuswap territory.  The Chair also recognized that today is International Women's Day.  

Meeting Agenda adopted and the minutes of Central Cariboo Rural Directors' Caucus meetings held on January 18th/25th were also adopted

Business:

1) Petition for Lighting at the Wildwood Transfer Station

The Caucus had before it a report of the Deputy Corporate Officer (L. Schick) in regards to a received public petition for installation of lighting at the Wildwood Transfer Station

Discussion ensued thereon

Resolved - Report received/referred to Staff for funding options and report back to the March 22nd CC Rural Caucus Meeting

2) Letter from WL Field Naturalists re: 2017 Scout Island Banquet

The Caucus had before it a letter from Mr. Fred McMechan from the Williams Lake Field Naturalists in regards to the 2017 Scout Island Nature Centre Banquet on Friday, April 21st

Discussion ensued thereon

Resolved - Letter received and Director S. Forseth be authorized to attend on behalf of Central Cariboo Rural Directors'

3) Eco-Depot within Central Cariboo in 2017

The Manager of Environmental Services (P. Hughes) appeared before the Caucus provide an update on an Eco-Depot within Central Cariboo in 2017

Discussion ensued thereon

No resolution resulted

Delegation:

Irene Willsie, Executive Director of the Women's Contact Society, appeared before the Caucus to provide an update on the Society's activities

A Question/Answer Period ensued

The Chair, on behalf of Caucus, thanked Ms. Willsie for her time/information

Business, cont:

4) Late Item - Letter of Support for Bill C-337 (Rona Ambrose Private Members' Bill - Judges/Lawyers' Training for Sexual Assault Cases)

The Chair reported on this item

Resolved - That a letter be forwarded to the Hon. Rona Ambrose, M.P. , P.C. advising that the Cariboo Regional District supports the adoption of Bill C-337, An Act to amend the Judges Act and the Criminal Code (sexual assault)

Director J. Sorley left the meeting at 3:53pm

5) Action Page

The Action Page was presented to the Caucus
