McLeese Lake FD gifts water tender to Riske Creek FD

Ian Hicks from the McLeese Lake FD gifts a water tender
to Steven Yanko of Riske Creek for the Riske Creek FD

Yesterday, the community of McLeese Lake was present as their local Fire Department gifted a water tender to the Riske Creek Fire Department as part of the 2019 Fire Prevention Week event hosted by the McLeese Lake FD.  Funding for this event was provided by way of a Cariboo RD Area 'D' Grant for Assistance.  I was pleased to financially support this event.  I also provided funding for a similar event in Wildwood, was which held back in mid September. Wildwood is just 10 minutes north of Williams Lake and is part of Cariboo RD Electoral Area 'D'

Riske Creek is 36 minutes west of Williams Lake

The Riske Creek FD has been busy in 2019 sourcing materials to start up a fire department after the 2017/2018 Wildfires for the community of Riske Creek. The McLeese Lake VFD also donated used fire department materials to the Riske Creek FD earlier this year

Elected officials present included Cariboo-Prince George MP Todd Doherty, Cariboo-North MLA Coralee Oakes and Cariboo Regional District Electoral Area 'D' Director Steve Forseth whose electoral area includes the unincorporated community of McLeese Lake of roughly 300 people.  McLeese Lake is 30 mins north of Williams Lake and 45 mins south of Quesnel

The community of McLeese Lake wishes their friends in Riske Creek the very best as they start up a local fire department in Riske Creek, remembering how McLeese Lake FD got its' start after a Highway 97 head on collision in February 2013 in the community of McLeese Lake and how it took many years for the McLeese Lake FD to build up its' capacity to serve the community of McLeese Lake over a 6 year period.

The community of McLeese Lake and I both hope to see construction of a fire hall for the McLeese Lake VFD sometimes in 2020 which will build on my personal dream of fire halls in Wildwood, Tyee Lake and McLeese Lake.  Fire Halls already exist in Wildwood/Tyee Lake with McLeese Lake hopefully to follow in 2020 but certainly by the end of my elected term in 2022... :)
