#CaribooRD Solid Waste Advisory Committee seeks new members

The CRD is initiating a Solid Waste Management Plan update, and is in search of dedicated individuals from environmental/conservation organizations, business groups, consumer groups, large waste generators, First Nations communities, school districts, chambers of commerce, business associations, ratepayers or community associations, interested residents, youth and seniors from all CRD electoral areas and member municipalities to form a Solid Waste Advisory Committee.

The Solid Waste Advisory Committee will be involved in:

  • Evaluating the current solid waste services;
  • Designing the consultation process for residents;
  • Establishing locally relevant guiding principles, goals and targets that align with provincial guidelines;
  • Identifying strategies to achieve waste reduction targets; and
  • Considering the financial feasibility of new and existing programs or services

Garbage and recycling programs for the CRD and member municipalities (Williams Lake, Quesnel, District of 100 Mile House and District of Wells) are developed, approved, and implemented through the Region’s Solid Waste Management Plan. Each Plan spans 10 years. The current Plan will be updated over the next two years.
