Barkerville Brewing Co. E-vote
ratification In the interest of time,
due to the limited construction window, a special electronic vote was
conducted between August 9 – 11, 2021, to provide Council input toward Barkerville Brewing Co.’s application to the Liquor and
Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) for a structural change to an
approved lounge. Efforts were taken to gather views of the public and
surrounding businesses for the proposal; the vote was carried and then
ratified at the August 24, 2021 Council meeting. |

Permissive Tax Exemptions The City leases a portion of 101 Marsh Drive for the location
of the Food Hub. The City then leases this property to the non-profit group –
Sprout Kitchen Society to run the Food Hub. In order for the property to be
exempt from taxation next year a permissive tax exemption bylaw must be
passed and submitted to BC Assessment by October 31st. This bylaw also includes the removal of the permissive
exemption for the Fraser Village Homes Society, as that property is now owned
by the Provincial Rental Housing Corporation, which is assessed taxes through
the Grant-In-Lieu program. Permissive tax exemption bylaws require
public notice, so after the first two readings of this bylaw are complete,
staff will advertise in the paper Council’s intent to exempt this property.
Once the public notice is complete, staff will bring the bylaw back for third
reading and then adoption. |
