Special Committee of the Whole (WL Council) Highlights - Aug 4th, 2021 mtg

The Chair provided an overview as to the purpose of today's Special Committee of the Whole meeting in respect of the current status of the City of Williams Lake's portion of Dog Creek Road and the next steps involved... 

The Committee considered a report of the Chief Administrative Officer/Director of Municipal Services in respect of the current status of Dog Creek Road and the next steps - report here

Discussion ensued thereon

RESOLVED: 

That the Committee recommend:

Council receive the report of the Chief  Administrative Officer/Director of Municipal Services dated July 30th, 2021 and that Council direct staff to proceed with contacting the appropriate Ministries requesting monetary compensation to complete remediation work on Dog Creek Road, from Highway 20 to the City of Williams Lake municipal boundary until such time that the groundwater/land slippage issues are fully addressed and that Staff report back at a future Committee of Whole Council meeting recommending waiving Council Policy #138, if applicable.  Further, Staff outline in this report the timeline/steps required to commence a road closure process for the City portion of Dog Creek Road along with a draft Road Closure Bylaw, should the request for Provincial funding be rejected and not provided in a timely manner and that a response time of 15 days be set to allow for a response from the Ministries of Transportation/Infrastructure and Forests, Land, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development on this matter
