Rocky Nenka to run for Mayor of Wells in October

Rocky Nenka who has a background in Indigenous tourism including becoming the new retail operations manager for Lhtako Dene Nation in Barkerville Historic Town & Park has now put his name forward to become the next Mayor of Wells, BC in the upcoming District of Wells local election in October

Current Wells Mayor Ed Coleman announced earlier this year that he would not seek re-election.  No others have put their name forward for either Mayor or Councillor for the District of Wells... 

The formal Candidate Nomination Period gets underway from September 1-11, 2026...

Should a formal election be required (more than 2 people running for Mayor or more than 4 people running for Councillor) -- General Voting Day in the District of Wells will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026
