Additional Paving Projects in the City

On Tuesday, Council will consider ratifying a poll they conducted on September 29th to take $290,000 from the Cameron Street Reconstruction Project (between 3rd, 4th and 5th Avenues) to facilitate paving on the following streets:

• Oliver Street – 3rd Avenue to 8th Avenue

• 3rd Avenue South (all)

• 4th Avenue North – Proctor Street to Cameron Street

• Comer Street – Mackenzie Avenue to Gibbon Street (terminating on 6th Avenue – Comer Street to Gibbon Street)

• Boundary Street – Mackenzie Avenue to Pigeon Avenue Ave)

• Western Avenue – Midnight Drive to Levens Street and Carson Drive to Highway 97)

See the report on this item here

I'm somewhat concerned about Council taking a under-used portion of the Mackenzie Avenue and pushing that budget to the max to do other projects, as voters' could argue that Council is using long-term borrowing for Mackenzie Avenue and directing it to other projects to which consent was not given, but the poll of Council approved this from September 29th will likely be approved
