By way of background - Williams Lake Council acquired the former Cariboo Lodge site from Interior Health, in 2006, for $10. The last Council agreed to form a Task Force to look at the future direction of the Cariboo Lodge site (except the old Heritage House portion which is leased to CMHA for its' Jubilee House. Its' lease is up in 2014)
The members of the Cariboo Lodge Task Force are (as at Nov 24th, 2010):

The purpose of the Task Force is to explore the possibility of redeveloping the Cariboo Lodge site and recommend to Williams Lake City Council on possible models for the site.
There is an opportunity for the City and community to establish a plan for the redevelopment of the site in preparation for potential funding program announcements by Ottawa/Victoria and possible economic development projects in Williams Lake
The Task Force will be using $30,000 in grants/budgeted money to look at housing needs in Williams Lake and will take into consideration the movement of population of people from outlying communities into the City. The study is slated to take 4-6 months to complete, with a projected completion date of June - August 2012
The study's region will take in Anahim Lake in the west to McLeese Lake in the north, Horsefly and Likely to the east, and to Lac La Hache in the south. The consultant will be expected to conduct a housing inventory; actively engage community input; and examine vacancy rates and barriers, the impact of changing demographics, labour force recruitment and retention of seniors in the community on housing needs, and the current state of attainable housing and future attainable housing need by age and household formation types by community
In the meantime - there is still no deadline as to when the Cariboo Lodge Task Force will report to Council as to future direction of what a renewed Cariboo Lodge site will look like
