After an investigation by TRUE Consulting - WL Council (minus Mayor Cook) decided on March 22nd, 2011 to forward an application to the General Strategic Priorities Fund (GSPF) (Ottawa) for $2,641,617.75 or 75% of the total project cost of $3,522,157.00. See more info here
Now - in a letter authored by Gary MacIssac (Union of BC Municipalities Executive Director) in his capacity as Chair of the Gas Tax Management Committee on December 12th, 2011 and written to City of Williams Lake CAO Brian Carruthers - the City's GSPF application for water/sewer services for Woodland Drive was denied
Read the letter here however the letter states that the City can reapply to the GSPF and the Innovation Fund in 2012 for the same application (Woodland Dr Water/Sewer), if it wishes. The letter does not state, in detail, why the application failed but says if the City wants more details that it should contact the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development.
Like the failed 'Towns for Tomorrow' grant application to move the Station House Gallery across from the Central Cariboo Arts Centre - I hope the City will discuss this with Ministry officials ASAP to ensure that this very important project (Woodland Dr Water/Sewer) can be funded by grant (insofar as can be done) as there is no more important service like Water/Sewer for fellow Williams Lake residents - such are Woodland Drive residents' are...
