2 Active Lawsuits in Quesnel

In light of the revelation that Quesnel Council is dealing with legal proceedings in regards to the severance given to former Quesnel City Manager (CAO) John Stecyk, QuesnelNews.com reports on a lawsuit launched by residents' in the Johnston subdivision in regards to an approved Secondary Suite application on Leonard Avenue

Read their legal application here and the response of the City here

Given the recent court case in Prince George (Haldi Rd) over the need to ensure that an amendment(s) to a municipal zoning bylaw be compatible with the local Official Community Plan (OCP) Bylaw, even I will be curious to see if Quesnel Council's decision for a secondary suite for Leonard Ave will stand court scrutiny.  I suspect that a court will throw out the lawsuit.  Frankly - residents opposed to the secondary suite on Leonard Ave would have been better off to wait until the 2014 Muncipal Election and channel their frustration that way

Finally - you can read all of the pertinent details at the Public Hearing for the Leonard Ave secondary suite application here
