Special COW Mtg (WL Council) - Aug 12th/14

Present - Mayor Cook (Chair) and Councillors Bourdon, Hughes, Rathor, Zacharias and Bonnell (via teleconference)

Absent - Councillor L. Walters

Business:

1) Fire Pumper Truck RFP

The City Manager reviewed the item with the Committee
Discussion ensued thereon

Resolved - That the Committee recommend:

Council award the Request for Proposal to Rocky Mountain Phoenix to purchase a Fire Pumper Truck for the bid price of $514,068 plus applicable taxes subject to City Staff reporting back on estimated price for disposing of the old Fire Pumper truck and information on the Fire Underwriters Survey/impact to fire insurance not replacing the Fire Pumper Truck 

Approved by the following vote:

Affirmative - Mayor Cook and Councillors Bourdon, Hughes, Rathor and Zacharias
Negative - Councillor I. Bonnell

2) Lake Access Inventory and Dutch Point Road - Project Update

The Planner reviewed his report with the Committee
Discussion ensued thereon

Resolved - That the Committee recommend:

A) Council receive the report of the Planner dated July 25th, 2014 for information and that City staff be directed to implement Dutch Point mitigation measures, as discussed/amended, ,installation and maintenance of garbage and washroom facilities & pursue a 2nd boat access to Williams Lake

B) That City Staff be directed to report on potential to develop a secondary boat launch at 1690 South Lakeside Drive

With all the car accidents the fire department attends they should look at getting a few minivans.
Bringing a big fire truck to a fender bender is like using a shotgun to get a mosquito. At $500000 for a fire truck it is not very cost effective for taxpayers to be driving them around all day.
