Another incomplete application to draw out the remediation of the old Quiznos/Shell station in Williams Lake as the owner once again plays Council like a fiddle. I witnessed the core drilling that took place on that site on April 23, 2020, just two months ago, and the stench of the hydrocarbons when they extracted the cores was overwhelming.
It would have cost him money to submit drawings with his application, but our CAO finds it “encouraging to see this rezoning application underway”. Ridiculous! This is not a “very positive change for this high profile (sic) location”; it’s a sham application intended to buy time so the owners can avoid getting the expensive cleanup done to make that property usable. Council needs to grow some gonads and give the owner a timeline for the testing and work to be completed to clean up this environmental disaster and eyesore. Seven years is long enough.
Once again, the residents are getting jerked around from the owner, Council, and our overpaid CAO.
Last time there was a social media uproar. The next time will be at the election.
