Over the next three weeks, residents in Quesnel can have their say on how to stay connected on important projects and major initiatives throughout the city. It is a key step in a move towards developing a more engaged and participatory community.
The City is reaching out to community members for their feedback in a community engagement survey on how the City communicates with them and provides opportunities for engagement.
“COVID-19 has given us pause and a lens to reevaluate how important it is to ensure the community is on board with key decisions that affect them,” said Quesnel Mayor Bob Simpson. “We’ve undergone some major initiatives over the last few years as part of our community revisioning, and the success of these projects relies heavily on community support and enthusiasm.”
The City currently has many strategic initiatives and projects in varying stages of planning and completion. The projects range in scope, size and impact, and all need community information-sharing and public participation opportunities. Each contributes the overall vision set for the community as the ideal community to live, work and thrive.
Deputy City Manager Kari Bolton explains further, “With the Province’s four-step Restart plan underway, now is the time to touch base with Quesnel residents and see how well we’re communicating and providing an opportunity for feedback and citizen involvement. It’s also a pivotal moment for the City to begin planning for more public participation opportunities.”
The research gathered from the survey will help create a strategic engagement plan. The goal is to hear from as many Quesnel residents as possible.
The survey will be live on the City’s website from June 9 until June 30. Please click www.quesnel.ca/survey or scan the QR code to access the online survey.
