Crews have been piling this debris as part of an ongoing fuel management project in partnership with BC Parks and the City of Quesnel. These piles will now be burned in order to eliminate available fuels in the event of a wildfire.
Burning could begin as soon as Monday, June 14, 2021 and continue periodically until as late as June 25, 2021. Burning will only occur on days when conditions are favourable and will allow for proper venting and quick smoke dissipation. BC Wildfire Service personnel will be on-site and monitoring these fires.
Anyone who lights an open fire must comply with B.C.’s air quality control legislation. The legislation requires individuals to check local venting prior to lighting a fire and ensure that conditions are favourable for burning.
