Williams Lake Council determines the City of Williams Lake Budget for 2023

Tuesday evening in Committee of the Whole - Williams Lake Council, in a 5-2 vote (Councillors Sheila Boehm/Scott Nelson opposed) voted to recommend that the tax mill rate rate for 2023 vs 2022 stay the same which would translate to a residential increase of 16.5% vs 2022.  If officially approved by Council at their April 18th, 2023 meeting -- the potential implication on the average residential property owner would be an additional $281 vs 2022 residential municipal property taxes (excluding SD27 School Taxes, Regional District taxes as well as taxes due to BC Municipal Finance Authority and BC Assessment Authority)

Councillor Joan Flaspohler who is Council's Finance Chair told the Williams Lake Tribune:

“This year’s budget addressed important infrastructure requirements. Items that have been deferred in previous years such as water well replacement, bio solid removals and full road reconstruction, not only resurfacing.”

Meanwhile - Councillor Scott Nelson shared the outcome of last night's Committee of the Whole meeting on his personal Facebook page and the feedback received was not surprising to an outsider -- non-support of Council's decision in Committee
