Minerals North Legacy Funding

In May, 2023 Quesnel hosted the 32nd annual Minerals North Conference & Trade Show. This was the first show since COVID-19 and it brought significant attention to Quesnel as a hosting destination.

A hosting community agrees to allocate at least 75% of any surplus funding from the event to support for mineral industry activity throughout the entire region.

Through discussion with the Minerals North organizing committee and the College of New Caledonia, it was recommended to Council that the surplus go to CNC for the purpose of purchasing equipment to be used for the Mineral Processing Operator Certificate program at the Quesnel campus.  Council unanimously agreed!

The MPOC 16-week program will be offered at the Quesnel campus and includes classroom instruction; WorkSafe BC Certification; Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Petroleum Resources education based on Health, Safety and Reclamation.
