From the City of Williams Lake/Cariboo Regional District:
Additional repairs to the pool tank of the Sam Ketcham Pool have been completed. The pool will re-open to the public for regularly scheduled hours on August 15, barring any unforeseen issues.
The most recent repairs have resulted in a significant reduction in water loss from the main tank. However, there continues to be ongoing leakage which will require more comprehensive, long term repairs in the near future.
Assessments during the recent repairs, revealed a variety of age-related defects and deterioration of the main tank that must be addressed in order to ensure the long term integrity of the pool tank and to prevent the continued loss of water.
Costs and timelines for required repairs are being prepared by City and CRD staff for submission to the Central Cariboo Joint Committee as soon as possible.
Editor's Note - Geoff Paynton, the City's Director of Community Services, indicated to the Central Joint Commmittee at its' Thursday, August 4th meeting, that a report on costs/timelines for repairs to the Sam Ketcham Pool would be presented at the September 14th Central Cariboo Joint Committee meeting
