The community's arts and culture will be on display during the second annual Open Doors event on Sunday, Aug. 21 from noon to 5 p.m. This free event, co-ordinated by Quesnel and District Leisure Services, features 13 sites of cultural interest, complete with interpreters, photo displays, artists, musicians, authors and more.
Guides to help plan your route for the day are available at the Quesnel and District Museum and Archives, the Quesnel Visitor Centre and at the Quesnel and District Arts & Recreation Centre.

Some of the highlights include:
. The Quesnel Museum: Tour the museum and enjoy the Old Time Fiddlers on the Friendship Stage in LeBourdais Park.
. The Quesnel Train Station: The Quesnel Model Rail Club will display trains through the history of the railway - try your hand as a telegraph operator.
. Royal Canadian Legion: An open celebration for the return of a Canadian soldier from Afghanistan.
. Shiraoi House: Dress up in a kimono, practice calligraphy and origami, play with Japanese toys and watch a printmaker make Japanese wood block prints.
. City Hall: Local authors read selections of their works in Council Chambers, while a prize-winning local quilter displays her work.
. Ceal Tingley Park: A group of re-enactors display the dress of the voyageurs, the methods of canoe building and speak on the fur trade.
